Real Avilés CF hails from Avilés and is one of Asturias’ oldest football clubs. It was founded in 1903 under the name Sport Club Avilesino. The club was promoted to the Segunda División in 1990. The club was relegated and promoted quite a few times. The club plays its home matches at Estadio Román Suárez Puerta.
