Shattering all conventional beliefs and romantic stereotypes of the original Russian ballet Swan Lake, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake is one of the longest-running ballets on Broadway. It brings to the stage a re-imagined, dark tale of the Prince who is gripped with melancholy and craves genuine love and affection. Contrary to the original enactment of the classic, the story is told with the help of marvelous male dancers dressed in all-white, feathered harem pants. The ballet is complemented by melodies of Tchaikovsky, conserving the essential presence of the age-old classic.
