Zhadan i Sobaky, initially recognized as Sobaky v Kosmosi, is a Ukrainian ska band that was established in 2000 in Kharkiv. In their formative years, they participated in significant Ukrainian festivals and released two albums by 2008. That same year marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration with the esteemed writer Serhiy Zhadan, who took on the roles of lead vocalist and lyricist. This partnership led to the band's rebranding as Zhadan i Sobaky. Together, they have produced multiple albums that fuse ska, punk, and literary elements, including Sportyvnyi Klub Armiyi (2008), Zbroya Proletariatu (2012), Byisya za neyi (2014), and Madonna (2019). Their music addresses various social and political themes with a vigorous and defiant spirit. Zhadan's influence has been crucial in defining the band's unique sound.
