This football club in the greater Madrid metropolitan area has had a tumultuous history since its establishment in 1924. Over the subsequent decades, the team floundered in the lower divisions transforming and re-transforming itself under different denominations and owners, until it finally merged with the Club Getafe Promesas in 1983. Getafe entered La Liga for the first time in 2003 and the team competed in the UEFA Cup Quarter-Finals in 2008. Getafe takes the pitch at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez which has a capacity of 17,700.
