Founded in 1989, Athletic Bilbao is a Spanish football club that calls the Basque Country home. Also known as Los Leones, of The Lions, the team competes in the Primera Division, which its helped found. Athletic Bilbao plays its home games at San Mames. The men's football team has won the La Liga championship several times with great success in the 1930s and 1980s, while the women's team has experienced fortitude in more modern times, taking the Primera Division title four different times during the 2000s.
