Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma was formed in 1988 and first participated in K-League next year. After the team moved the home ground twice, Tancheon Stadium of Seongnam city has been the home since 1999. Not only is Seongnam Ilhwa the sole team that became a champion in the league three years in a row, but also the team which holds seven times of K-League championships, which is the most among K-League teams. Past legendary players include Dohun Kim, Sasha, Seongnam Lee, Taeyong Shin and so on.
