Initially formed in 1986 under the name of Binggrae Eagles, Hanwha Eagles was 7th professional baseball team in Korean Baseball League, which based in Chungcheong province. Although the team placed only second of Korea Series four times without any champion trophy, Binggrae Eagles was regarded as one of the strongest teams in the league at the time. However, after the team changed the name into Hanwha Eagles, it always placed low ranks in the pennant league apart from the surprising winning of Korea Series in 1999. Even fans supporting Hanwha Eagles are referred to stone Buddha which means extremely generous people because they keep supporting the team despite the team's bad ranks every season. Hanwha Eagles that produced star players such as Daeseong Ku, Chanho Park, Taegyun Kim and Hyeonjin Ryu has always been struggling to show the best game to the fan.
