One of the most loved and dominant rugby union teams in South Africa, Western Province rugby team represents the Western Cape Province of South Africa in the Currie Cup. Formed in 1883, it holds the record for most Currie Cup trophies with 34 and is the only South African team to have beaten the All Blacks on two occasions. Known fondly as “Die Streeptruie'' by its devout fans, it uses the Newlands Stadium as its home ground and has also won the Lion Cup and the Vodacom Cup.
