Aya Nakamura is a French singer/songwriter originally from Bamako, Mali. Raised in a family of West African storytellers and poets called "griots," Nakamura understood the power of the narrative art from a young age. Eventually going on to launch a music career with a style that blends elements traditional African music with contemporary pop, Nakamura would release her debut album, Journal intime, in 2017.
