Melissa Aldana is a Chilean saxophone player who began playing at the age of six, under the guidance of her professional saxophonist father Marcos Aldana. Influenced by revered jazz musicians like Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley and Michael Brecker, Aldana would go on to cut her teeth on the Chilean jazz scene before going on to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Eventually releasing her debut album, Free Fall, in 2010, Aldana would define herself as a saxophone player who pulls inspiration from both the deep well of jazz and also the multifaceted world of Latin American music.
