Club Atlético de San Luis or Atlético San Luis, as it's better known as, is the most loved football outfit of the city of San Luis Potosí. The club was established in 2013 and its rise to top flight football is somewhat of a fairytale. After spending much of its time in the second tier Ascenso MX, the club's fortune changed in 2017 after an ownership takeover by Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. Playing with a new philosophy and tactics, it secured promotion into Liga MX in 2019.
