Based in Leiria, Portugal, the União Desportiva de Leiria is one of the football clubs that compete in the Campeonato de Portugal. It began its journey into the world of football in 1966 and in 1979 it competed in the Primeira Liga. Reaching the top league was a major milestone, but the club took it up a notch in 2004 when it paved its way into the UEFA Intertoto Cup final and became the first team from its country to do so.
