Two rival French clubs Reims Champagne Basket club and the ESPE Basket Pro club of Châlons-en-Champagne merged in 2010 to give birth to Champagne Châlons-Reims Basket. Until the 2013-14 season, the team played in the ProB. The club entered the ProA in the next season as a wildcard entry.
