BC Khimki was founded in 1997 and has since grown to be one of Russia's most successful basketball teams. It earned its promotion to the Russian Superleague A after winning the regional level champions league during its first season. The team won the Russian cup in 2008. It competed in the EuroLeague in the 2009-10 season as well as the season after that. The team plays its home matches for the VTB United League at Khimki Basketball Center and for the EuroLeague at Mytishchi Arena.
