John Lithgow reinvents the wheel and lends storytelling a whole new dimension in his play Stories by Heart. Drawing parallels from his personal life, John Lithgow delightfully divulges spectators into another realm of being with short stories like "Haircut" and "Uncle Fred Flits" by Ring Lardner and P.G. Wodehouse respectively. Starting off with a hearty, mellow note, the play progresses, only to indulge in the intensity of stories which bear a strong connection with Lithgow's family. Having debuted at American Airlines Theatre in 2008, this solo show is able to stunningly underline old-school drama interspersed with charismatic semblances of physical theater, with a smattering of emotion.
