The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile organizes the racing championship, the FIA Formula 2 Championship. This second-tier, single-seater championship debuted in 2017, post the rebranding of the GP2 series. It mandates the use of the same chassis, tyre supplier and engine for all teams, so as to check true driving ability and make the championship the ideal training field for Formula One.
