Club Sportivo Cienciano, which is popularly known as Cienciano, is a football club based in Peru. It was formed in 1901 in the city of Cusco. It became a part of Liga Departamental del Cusco in 1903 and went on to become one of its strongest contestants with 28 league titles. In 1972, it started playing with the county’s best clubs in the Peruvian First Division. It is still a part of the league and has won the league’s Torneo Apertura and Torneo Clausura. Many top-notch players like Sergio Ibarra, Germán Carty and Ramón Rodríguez have played for this club.
