A merger between U.S. Fortebraccio and Libertas gave rise to the Italian football club A.C. Perugia. The club has had to overcome quite a few financial roadblocks that caused them shut down in 2004, only to be reformed a year later. It had to close again in 2010 due to bankruptcy but was reformed within months. Despite its monetary issues, the club has bagged several titles and championships in over a century of its existence. The club was first promoted to the Serie A in 1975 but was relegated at the turn of the decade. Perugia competed in Serie B in the 2019-20 season but placed 16th and hence was demoted to Serie C.
