Founded in 1976, FC Orenburg is a football club that competes in the Russian Premier League. Based in Orenburg, the club plays its home fixtures at the Gazovik Stadium. Despite being a part of the lower tiers of Russian football for most of its history, it fought the odds and achieved promotion to the Russian Premier League for the first time in 2016. It was formerly known as “FC Gazovik Orenburg” and was renamed following their promotion to the Russian top-flight.
