FC Sheriff Tiraspol is a Moldovan football club that represents the city of Tiraspol in the Divizia Națională - the top division of football in the country. Founded in 1996 as FC Tiras Tiraspol, it started playing in the third-division and soon made a name for itself within Moldovan football. It adopted its current name in 1997 and made its debut in the first division during the 1998-99 season. Since winning its first trophy - the Moldovan Cup - in 1999 it has amassed numerous domestic and international titles. The club plays its home games at the Sheriff Stadium.
