Sad13 is a project of American indie rock singer-musician Sadie Dupuis. The founding member and the lead vocalist of rock band Speedy Ortiz, she started working as Sad13 with the aim of writing empowering pop songs. The roots for the project were sown during a meeting with rapper Lizzo while on tour for Speedy Ortiz. Sad113's debut song "Basement Queens," released in the beginning of 2016, was written by Dupuis and Lizzo and spoke about women charting their own course in the music industry. She continued working on more material for her project and released Sad13's debut album Slugger at the end of the same year. Some of the songs included on the album were "Hype," "Fixina," "Krampus (In Love)" and "Tell U What," among others.
