Also known as the "CASTEC Rural Pioneers," the Mount Gambier Pioneers are a men's basketball team that plays in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL). The team is based in and named after the city of Mount Gambier in South Australia, where they are housed at the Bern Bruning Stadium. Established in 1988, the team had a hit or miss record for the first few years of its existence. In 2013 this all changed with the beginning of a winning streak for the Pioneers that brought them into the limelight. The team boasts a healthy base of loyal fans who proudly wear the team colors of black, green and yellow.
