Known fondly as “Mooloos”, Waikato Rugby is a rugby union team that competes in the Mitre 10 Cup which is New Zealand’s second highest tier of professional rugby union tournaments. Based in Hamilton, it uses the Waikato Stadium for its home matches and has won domestic trophies such as the National Provincial Championship, Mitre 10 Cup, Ranfurly Shield and the National 7s. Byron Kelleher, Liam Messam and Anton Lienert-Brown are a few notable players who have represented this team.
