SC Cambuur hails from the town of Leeuwarden in the Dutch province of Friesland. The club was established in 1964 and for the majority of its existence the club played in the lower divisions until gaining its first promotion to the Eredivisie in 1992 after winning the First Division (Eerste Divisie) title. Cambuur’s nickname is the ‘Yellow-Blues’ because of the squad’s kit color and the club plays home games at the 10,000 seat Cambuur Stadion. Its main rivals within the Eredivisie are FC Groningen, FC Zwolle and SC Heerenveen.
