CRX is the project of Nick Valensi, who is famous as one of the two guitarists of The Strokes. While all his bandmates including frontman Nick Casablancas working on side projects, Valensi dropped the bomb of CRX without warning, establishing a strong social media presence and booking a tour before any hint of music had been released.
