The Italian language melodrama Linda di Chamounix premiered in 1842. Set in a small French village named Chamounix in the Alps, the story follows Antonio, his daughter Linda and her suitors. The play explores themes like love, loss, lust and betrayal. Ever since its first run at Vienna's Kärntnertortheater, the operatic piece has played all over the world has opened in the UK and the US in 1847 and 1843 respectively.
