Pharoah Sanders is a jazz saxophonist from Little Rock, Arkansas who was described by jazz great Ornette Coleman as "probably the best tenor player in the world." Initially emerging plying with John Coltrane in the mid-1960s, Sanders would distinguish himself with a style that blends overblown harmonics with multiphonic techniques. Known for pioneering free jazz and avant-garde jazz styles, Sanders is regarded as a living legend in the modern jazz scene.
