Wim Mertens is a classical musician from Neerpeit, Belgium who studied musicology at Ghent University and music theory at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels before going on become an in-demand composer in the early-1980s. Mertens released his debut album, For Amusement Only, in 1980 and since then he has maintained a prolific LP output in addition to keeping an active performance schedule.
