Il Toyboy di Mia Madre or ‘My Mom’s Toy Boy’ by Marco Mazzo is an exaggerated comedy that candidly displays the lives of Luca, Elena, Giusina and Alessandro as they battle love and money problems. Luca and Elena live together and while Luca yearns to be with her, she is unresponsive to his meek advances. At the same time, Elena’s mother decides to wed her newfound ‘Toy Boy’, Alessandro. Twists and turns ensue as the subplots feature how the actors deal with age, stereotypes and familial relations all within a comedic sphere that is just as real as daily life.
