The Los Angeles-based rock band The Shelters was formed in 2015 by former Automatik Slim members Chase Simpson, Josh Jové and Sebastian Harris. It released its first EP EP in 2015. Tom Petty, who had worked with Jové and Simpson before, offered his studio space to the band and co-produced its 2016 debut album The Shelters. The band's second album Jupiter Sidecar was released in 2019.
