Longford Town Football Club was founded in 1924 in the town of Longford in Ireland. It first made it into the Leinster Senior League first division in 1935. It spent many decades competing in the league and won multiple FAI Intermediate Cups along with it. In 1984, the club got its much-awaited chance to play in the League of Ireland. Its time in the top league was spent in being relegated to the First Division and rising up to the top again. Through its history, the club has claimed the League of Ireland First Division title and multiple FAI Cups. Longford Town plays its home games at the Bishopsgate stadium and is a contender in the League of Ireland First Division.
