Playing in the third tier of German football, VfR Aalen may not be the biggest club in the country, it is one of the most resilient. The club was established in 1921 and played out its early years in the amateur leagues. By 1999 VfR Aalen had gained immense popularity in the south and was soon elevated to the fourth division of the football league system. While its biggest highlight was playing in the 2.Bundesliga for three seasons, it remains hopeful to surpass the achievements of its rich past.
