Born Takudzwa Victoria Rosa Maidza on December 17, 1995, Tkay Maidza is a Zimbabwean-born Australian artist known for her work as a singer, songwriter, and rapper. After her family moved to Australia when she was five years old, they settled in Adelaide, where she initially pursued a degree in architecture before transitioning to a music career. Maidza gained prominence in 2013 with her single "Brontosaurus" and subsequently released her debut EP, Switch Tape, in 2014. Her first full-length album, Tkay, debuted in 2016, showcasing her distinctive blend of hip-hop, pop, and electronic music. The trilogy titled Last Year Was Weird, released from 2018 to 2021, further established her position in the music landscape, receiving critical acclaim and multiple nominations at the ARIA Awards.
