Crafting a masterful blend of heavy metal and J-pop, Babymetal is Japanese concept group composed of three idol singers and a full backing band. Since its formation in 2010, the band pioneered the kawaii metal genre with bubblegum choruses, choreographed dance moves and sharp, technical speed metal. Babymetal captured the hearts of Japanese audiences with other-worldly live shows packed full of production elements such as pyrotechnics and state of the art light shows. By the time it released its eponymous debut album in 2014, the band was a house-hold name in Japan, sporting a reputation for its truly crossover style. The rest of the world finally caught on to the group in 2016, when Babymetal made its first US television appearance and released its sophomore LP, Metal Resistance.
