Arminio is an opera by Georg Friedrich Händle, first performed in 1737 at the Theatre Royal in London, UK. It is one of the three operas that Händle composed within half a year in 1736/37. The opera deals with the inner-Germanic conflict between Arminio (the leader of the Chauci) and his father-in-law Segeste, the ruler of the Chatts, who formed an alignment with the Romans. Segeste delivers Arminio who is a prisoner, to the Romans. This puts Segeste's son Sigismondo in a terrible position, as he is in love with Arminio's sister Ramise. The plot worsens and leads to an unforeseen ending.
