Ein Maskenball (Un ballo in maschera) is an opera by Giuseppe Verdi in three acts. Verdi's opera Un ballo in maschera is based on Shakespeares King Lear. The traditional opera is a twisted love story about Riccardo who falls in love with his best friends' wife. When Renato finds out that Riccardo has been dating his wife, he breaks out into a rage. The plot climaxes during a masked ball and leads to an unforeseen ending.
