Association Sportive Monaco is football club based in Monaco created in 1924. The team plays for the French League, and is also a member of the European Club Association. Its home matches take place at the Stadium Louis II, which was first built in 1939. A new Louis II Stadium was opened in 1985, close to the site of the former stadium. Monnaco won seven league titles in 1961, 1963,1978,1982,1988,1997, and 2000 in addition to five Coupe de France titles in 1960, 1963,1980, 1985, and 1991. Other titles include one League's Cup in 2003, four Champions trophies in 1961, 1985, 1997 and 2000; one Charles Drago Cup in 1961, and three Gambardella's Cup in 1962, 1972 and 2011. Beacuse of this it is regarded as one of the most successful clubs in France. Its traditional colors are red and white, and thus is nicknamed Les Rouges et Blancs. The team has welcomed several international players, including Stephan El Shaarawy, Jérémy Toulalan, Fabien Barthez, Christian Vieri, Sonny Anderson, David Trezeguet and Fernando Morientes. Monaco has is own television network called AS Monaco TV. Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybdovlev became the owner of the club in 2011.
