Étoile Sportive Saint-Michel Le Portel Côte d'Opale is a basketball team that competes in the LNB Pro A, which is the top-tier basketball league in France. The team, which is popularly known as ESSM Le Portel, was formed in 1931 in Le Portel, France. It has played in many major competitions, but one of the most memorable one was the 2014–15 season of Coupe de France. Even though the team did not win the cup, it reached the finals by knocking out many powerful contestants and this was a victory in itself. The team can be seen playing its home games at the Le Chaudron.
