Fantomas is an experimental metal band that blends avant-garde textures into a heavy metal foundation. With an all-star lineup of metal veterans -- Mike Patton of Faith No More, Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Trevor Dunn of Tomahawk and Buzz Osborne of Melvins -- the band formed in 1998 and quickly made a name for itself with a distinctive sound. On vocals, Patton rarely sings lyrics and instead scats or chants melodies, while the guitarists and drummer often drift into noise territory. Fantomas dropped its eponymous debut album in 1999, and has since continued to release new music such as the 2013 split LP, Sugar Daddy Live.
