Disgraced is a one-act drama that is centered on Muslim-American lawyer Amir Kapoor and his wife Emily, an American artist who utilizes Islamic themes in her work. Though Amir has cast his religion aside to focus on climbing the corporate ladder, he is nevertheless drawn to his faith and culture, largely with the encouragement of Emily. When the couple hosts a dinner party with Emily's Jewish art dealer and Amir's African-American colleague, Jory, who also happened to be married, the friendly gathering quickly turns into a heated debate about religion and politics. Going beyond the surface level arguments of ethnic prejudices, Disgraced examines the deeply rooted racism that lives on, even in the most progressive, integrated social circles.
