Deserts Chang, originally named Chiao An-p'u, was born on May 30, 1981, and is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter celebrated for her lyrical artistry and indie music approach. She first adopted the name "Deserts Chang" as a pseudonym during her high school years for her poetry, but later transitioned to using her birth name, Anpu, in her musical endeavors after retiring the pen name in 2015. Chang began her journey in music composition at the age of 13 and made her debut with the album My Life Will... in 2006, released under Sony BMG. Her work often addresses significant social issues, earning her the Best Lyricist award at the 24th Golden Melody Awards in 2013 for her track "Rose-Colored You." She has continued to receive accolades, including the Song of the Year award at the 2023 Golden Melody Awards for "A Flash and How It Lasts." In addition to her solo career, she is a member of the band Algae. Chang is married and has one child, and she remains a significant figure in the alternative music landscape.
