Originally conceived as Black Cobra Vipers in 2011, O is a rock and roll outfit that weaves psychedelic pop and raw threads of funk into its sound. With the technical prowess and jazz backgrounds of bassist Julian Borrego and drummer Rob Mills crafting an impenetrable rhythm section, the trio is driven by the handsome yet rough vocals of singer and guitarist Greg DiMartino. The resulting style is a raw yet slinky, swooning rock and roll aesthetic that is accessible to a massive range of audiences, from indie rock and pop fans to psychedelic soul and R&B crowds. After releasing its debut EP in 2012 and establishing itself as one of the Bay Area's burgeoning rock and roll bands, the group decided it was time to change its moniker into one that felt singular, so they turned to writer and Mod icon Richard Barnes. Exactly fifty years after he named the legendary English rock band The Who, Barnes refashioned Black Cobra Vipers as O in 2014, and the band began a new page in its story with a residency at The Chapel in San Francisco.
