Sociedad Deportiva Eibar hails from the town of Eibar, Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country. The team is unique in that it is completely owned by the fans, with more than 10,000 shareholders that oversee its future. Founded in 1940, Eibar has mostly remained within the lower divisions of Spanish football and it wasn’t until 2014 that the club reached the top-flight La Liga. The team plays in the Ipurua Municipal Stadium, a diminutive structure that holds approximately 6,300 raving fans screaming for their beloved Armagiñak or ‘Gunners’.
