Club Deportivo El Nacional, or simply El Nacional, is one of the top teams of the Ecuadorian Serie A. Established in 1964, the team plays its games at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa. Since its inception, the team has been one of the league's top contenders and with several championships to its name, it is recognised as one of the most successful Ecuadorian clubs. It has more appearances in the Copa Libertadores, than any other club from the country.
