Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove is a New Orleans-based group led by sousaphone player Kirk Joseph that plays a style of music that blends "rhythmic and high-spirited concoction of jazz, funk and Afro-Caribbean flavors." Formed in 2004, while Joseph had some free time from his main musical endevor, the popular act The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Backyard Groove has since managed to distinguish itself as more than just a side project.
