NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac is amongst the 16 teams that compete for the title of Druga HNL, which is the second-tier football competition in the country. The team plays its games at NŠC Stjepan Spajić stadium and is based in the Zagreb city’s neighbourhood of Novi Zagreb. The team was named as NK Trnsko '75 when it was founded in 1975 but changed to ONK Novi Zagreb in the following year. The name changed again to NK Novi Zagreb in 1990 and since 1994, it is known by its current name. Some of the milestones of this team was winning the Croatian Second League ( Druga HNL) multiple times and competing in the UEFA Intertoto Cup.
