Puntarenas Fútbol Club plays its home games at the Miguel Ángel "Lito" Pérez stadium and is one of the teams that compete in Segunda División de Costa Rica. The club was founded in 2004 and debuted in the same year in the Primera División. The team quickly created a name for itself after putting on memorable performances against some of the country's best clubs. It has been the runner-up at many major games and has proved itself to be a highly-competitive force. Puntarenas has also competed in many international competitions and has also won the UNCAF Interclub Cup. Since 2014, Puntarenas F.C started playing in the Segunda División de Costa Rica.
