A.D. Municipal Liberia competes in Costa Rica’s top tier football league, the Liga FPD. Its home games are played at the Edgardo Baltodano Briceño stadium. The team was founded in 1977 in the city of Liberia, Guanacaste. The team spent many years perfecting its game and bringing consistency in its performances. Its hard work eventually paid off and in 1991, they defeated A.D. Ramonense and secured a place for themselves in the Liga FPD. Although they did not win the league that year, they were the victorious one in 2009. Other major wins of this team include the Segunda División and Tercera Division league titles.
