Asociación Deportivo Cali, which is usually referred to as Deportivo Cali, is one of the most powerful teams in the Categoría Primera A. The team plays its home games at Deportivo Cali stadium which is one of the largest stadiums in the country. The team was formed in 1908 by some students who returned from Europe with the football fever on their minds. It was around 1949 that the team started reaching new heights. It hit a fine run of form in the Categoría Primera A during the early 50s and hasn't stopped ever since. The team has won the league many times and has always been one of the toughest competitors to beat. It has also won the Copa Colombia and Superliga Colombiana, and has shown impressive gameplay in prestigious International competitions like Copa Libertadores and Copa Merconorte.
