Based in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Avaí Futebol Clube is one of the city's most loved football clubs. Founded in 1923, Avaí FC competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B and plays its home games at the Estádio da Ressacada. The club won the Brazilian Serie C trophy in 1998 and has also won 17 Santa Catarina State championships while sharing a rivalry with Figueirense.
